    This one. I think! Man, this really IS confusing! I made a couple of changes to the other post to clarify what I meant. I’ll look it up in the next couple of days. Apostrophes, you win again, aagh!

    Your examples ABCs, IOUs and VIPs (which are abbreviations or initialisms, not acronyms, which are pronounceable as words) contradicts what you say in your post on the three uses of apostrophes. Which is correct?

    That’s useful general advice. It gets trickier with stops, e.g., Ph.D.: Some people insist on an apostrophe in the plural, others believe it makes more sense to omit it. Grey areas, eh!
